Damp ProofingLincoln —Survey First.

Damp proofing only works when rising damp is the actual problem. We start with an independent damp survey from £250+VATto confirm the cause, then LWR Group — our sister company — carries out the chemical DPC injection and replastering if it's genuinely needed. One call, no sales pressure.

?The Honest Answer · Do You Need It?

Many Lincoln properties are misdiagnosed.

Damp proofing has a bad reputation, and it's partly earned. Some companies quote a damp-proofing course from a single moisture-meter reading — and a meter alone can't tell rising damp from condensation soaking into a wall from the room side. An injected DPC does nothing for condensation, so the damp comes straight back and the money is wasted.

We diagnose before we quote. Because our survey fee doesn't depend on selling you treatment, there's no incentive to find rising damp that isn't there.

Quoted for a damp-proofing course from a single moisture-meter reading, no lab salt test
Sold treatment on the same visit as the "survey", by the person who benefits from the sale
Told your condensation mould is "rising damp" with no explanation of the difference
Moisture profile taken at multiple heights, plus salt (efflorescence) analysis at low level
Written report explaining the cause, separate from any quote for works
Told plainly when the answer is better ventilation, not an injected DPC

How damp proofing actually works.

01

Independent survey

We confirm whether the damp-proof course has actually failed using a calibrated moisture profile and salt testing — not a single reading against a skirting board.

02

Honest recommendation

If the cause is condensation or penetrating damp instead, we say so. Roughly as many Lincoln properties we survey need better ventilation as need a DPC.

03

Chemical DPC injection

Where rising damp is confirmed, LWR Group injects a chemical damp-proof course into the mortar bed at low level, creating a new moisture barrier.

04

Replaster & making good

Salt-contaminated plaster is stripped and replaced with a salt-resistant render, then redecorated to match — carried out by the same LWR Group team.

Commercial Damp Proofing · Lincoln

Commercial premises covered too.

Damp in a commercial unit — an office, shop, or storage space — costs more than a residential job in lost trading time if it's handled badly. We survey Lincoln commercial premises the same way: independent diagnosis first, with LWR Group scheduling DPC and replastering works around your opening hours where possible.

?Damp Proofing · FAQs

Damp proofing, answered.

Only a proper survey can tell you — a calibrated moisture profile at several heights, plus a salt (efflorescence) test, rather than a single meter reading. A significant number of properties quoted for damp proofing actually have condensation, which an injected DPC does nothing to fix. Because our survey fee doesn't depend on selling you treatment, we tell you honestly either way.

It depends on the length of wall affected and the extent of replastering required. Every job starts with an independent survey from £100+VAT to confirm rising damp is genuinely present, after which LWR Group provides a fixed quote for the DPC injection and making-good works before anything starts.

A chemical DPC is injected into the mortar bed at low level around the affected wall, forming a new moisture barrier where the original damp-proof course has failed or is absent. Salt-contaminated plaster above it is then stripped and replaced with a salt-resistant render, since old plaster stays hygroscopic even after the wall dries.

A treated wall typically takes several weeks to months to dry out fully, depending on wall thickness and ventilation, even though the DPC itself is effective immediately. We re-plaster with a salt-resistant render specifically so redecoration doesn't need to wait for the wall to be bone dry.

Yes. We survey and diagnose damp in commercial premises — offices, retail units, warehousing — across Lincoln, with remedial DPC and replastering works carried out by LWR Group around your trading hours where needed.

Survey fees are non-refundable, since the survey is the diagnostic work itself. Remedial DPC and replastering works carried out by LWR Group are guaranteed for 12 months from completion.
